Welcome
Hey, welcome! Whether you booked this flight yourself or got it as a gift, we're really glad you're flying with JB Aeronautics. In the next few minutes, I'll show you where to go, how to get ready, and what happens when you get here, so on the day you can just enjoy it.
Where we are
We fly out of Fresno Yosemite International Airport, and our school is at forty-nine fifty-five East Andersen Avenue, Suite one-seventeen, in Fresno. Your confirmation email has a directions button. Once you're here, follow the path to the back left corner, and if you get turned around, just call us at five five nine, five five oh, fifty-two thirty-one.
How long it takes
Try to arrive about 15 minutes early, and plan on an hour and a half to 2 hours in all, since the flight is only part of the visit. Before your flight, your instructor will reach out to confirm your date and time, and to answer anything specific, like where to meet and what to bring.
Before you come
First, sign your waiver. The link is in your confirmation email, and it takes about 3 minutes on your phone. Everyone who flies signs their own, and if the person flying is under eighteen, a parent or guardian signs too. Dress comfortably, with closed-toe shoes and sunglasses. The night before, get good sleep and skip the drinks, then eat something light before you come.
Step one, the brief
Your visit goes in four steps. Step one is the pre-flight brief, where you and your instructor go over what you'll do, where you'll fly, and what the controls do. Ease the yoke back and the nose comes up, turn it and the airplane banks, and the rudder pedals at your feet move the nose left and right. Ask anything. Most people have lots of questions, and that's the point.
Step two, you fly
Step two is the best part. This isn't a ride-along. You'll sit in the left seat, the pilot's seat, and fly the airplane yourself, with your instructor right beside you. You'll feel the takeoff, level off, and try some turns, with views across Fresno and the valley, out toward the Sierra. Your instructor handles the critical parts, you'll fly for 30 or 45 minutes, depending on what you booked, and yes, it counts as real, loggable flight time.
What it feels like
Small airplanes feel little bumps in the air, and that's normal. You'll wear a headset, so talking with your instructor is easy. If you get motion sick, mention it beforehand, and if you feel uneasy at any point, just tell your instructor. They'll take it from there.
Step three, the tour
Step three is back on the ground, a tour of the fleet, the classrooms, and the simulator, and you'll meet some of the people you'd train with.
Step four, your path
Step four is your path, mapped. We'll walk through what training would look like for you, the timeline, the cost, and the realistic route to wherever you want to go. There's no pressure to sign up. Plenty of people take a discovery flight just to see if flying is for them, and that's exactly what it's for. And here's a bonus. Get approved for financing that covers at least our zero to CFI package, all the way to flight instructor, and the cost of your discovery flight is credited back to your training account. You don't even have to start training with us.
Quick answers
A few quick answers. If the weather isn't good for flying, we'll reschedule at no extra cost. Booking tiers go by weight because it affects airplane performance, so under two hundred twenty pounds flies in our standard Piper trainers, and over that, a higher-performance airplane. Want to bring someone along? Passengers are possible with your instructor's approval, depending on the airplane and weight, so ask when they reach out. Every passenger signs their own waiver too. And if your flight was a gift, all of this applies to you.
See you soon
That's it. Your instructor is your main point of contact, so once they reach out, they're the one to ask about anything. Before then, call five five nine, five five oh, fifty-two thirty-one, or send us a note through the contact form at JB aeronautics dot com. JB Aeronautics is part of the Anywhere Aero family, and we can't wait to get you up there. See you at the airplane.
